Fort Worth, TX, May 20, 2004 – To meet growing demand for health care professionals in Texas, Kaplan Higher Education is opening a new Career Centers of Texas school in Fort Worth.  Career Centers of Texas – Fort Worth Campus, located at 2001 Beach Street, is Kaplan’s sixteenth school in Texas and will celebrate its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at noon.

Fort Worth Mayor Pro-Tem Ralph McCloud will oversee the event, which will feature brief speeches from Kaplan executives.  Admissions representatives will also be on hand to discuss programs and requirements with prospective students and guide campus tours.

“We are excited about the Fort Worth campus, which features industry standard medical equipment and laboratories for students,” said Nancy Tedros, Executive Director, Career Centers of Texas – Fort Worth Campus. “With this new campus, we are forming an alliance with the Fort Worth community that will help serve its employment needs.”

Career Centers of Texas – Fort Worth Campus will offer diploma programs in Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician, each of which take less than a year to complete.  In addition, hands-on courses and a required externship will assist students in honing their skills.  Classes will begin on Monday, May 24, 2004 with approximately 50 students.

To design the new 14,000 square foot campus building, school officials worked with an advisory committee of local health care professionals.  As a result, the facility’s equipment meets industry standards and mirrors what students will experience in their chosen career fields.  The campus features two computer labs, as well as medical assistant, dental, and pharmacy technician labs.

Career Centers of Texas – Fort Worth Campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and has received a certificate of approval from the Texas Workforce Commission.  Instructors at the school are required to have five or more years of industry-related experience.  The school also offers career placement services to help graduates locate job opportunities, fine-tune résumés and enhance interviewing skills.

The event is open to the public, and those interested in learning more about Career Centers of Texas – Fort Worth Campus are welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.  To learn more, please call the school at 1-800-664-4533.
