    Hagerstown Business College Honors Black History Month with Forum on February 22



    Hagerstown, MD – February 22, 2005
    – In honor of Black History Month, the Contemporary Issues class at Hagerstown Business College will host a forum today, Tuesday, February 22, 2005, beginning at 6 p.m. in the school library.  The forum will address a broad range of topics including Bill Cosby’s thoughts on minority work ethics, the greatest success of the Civil Rights movement, and racism in America today.

    Participants include prominent leaders in the Hagerstown African-American community, including Robert Burnett, Rev. Leroy Jackson, Robert Johnson, Charmissa Washington, and Princeton Young.

    Robert Burnett was the first African-American to join the Hagerstown City Police Department and is currently the President of the Senior Choir at Ebenezer AME Church in Hagerstown.

    A graduate of Howard University and The Washington Bible College, Rev. Leroy Jackson has served as the Pastor of Ebenezer AME Church for the past 25 years.

    Another long-time Hagerstown resident, Robert Johnson, was both the first African-American to coach in an integrated school as well as the first African-American administrator in an integrated school in Washington County.

    Charmissa Washington is the minister at Destiny Church in Winchester, VA and a graduate of Hagerstown Business College.

    Princeton Young, a former member of Washington County’s Board of Education, will also be joining the forum as a speaker.
